Chatting and laughing

Courtney and Julia were chatting after work, and we caught a giggle on tape!  She started giggling last week, and it's pretty darn cute!

Waiting for lunch at the Salt Lick with the grandparents!

...and what is the deal with the hat???

Julia grabbed her toes for the first time on Monday. Now it's just a matter of time until she gets them in her mouth!

No nap Julia

Julia hasn't yet mastered the art of napping at day care- she gets in 2 or 3 30 minute catnaps. No naps + time change = sleepy girl.

As good as it gets

I'm sick, this picture is blurry, and Julia had a big blowout 3 seconds after I took this picture. :)

I took only terrible photos today! Julia came home from school with ghastly green feet today- they did an art project for St Patrick's Day that involved green footprints of all the babies. Fortunately, the residue came off really easily in the bath.

4 months and 2 days...

And we have our first tooth!  It isn't visible yet, but I sure can feel it when she's gumming my finger!

Julia got sone shots today at the doctor's office. I think that wore her out!

Happy Four Month Birthday, Julia!

Dear Julia,

Happy four month birthday!  Sorry this post is a little late- you had your four month check up at the doctor's office today and I wanted to be sure to include that information!  You are officially 17 pounds (95th percentile) and 25.5 inches long (90th percentile).  You now weigh more than twice as much as you did when you were born.  Big girl!  I'm really glad we got the big carseat, otherwise we'd be in the market for a new one in the next month or so!

I worked from home in the afternoons through all of February.  It was tough to get things done with you on my lap, so I worked a lot at night after you went to bed.  Now you go to daycare all day.  While I miss you like crazy during the day, it is nice to have a block of time to focus on work, and a block of time to focus on you. The last week of February was really busy for me at work, so you ended up hanging out at my office in the late afternoons- it was fun!

"working" with mommy

I feel like your new school is really terrific.  Even though it's closer to the house than my office, I'm still able to come see you most days at lunch time.  One day last week, I could tell you were really tired when I got there.  You had some lunch but kept falling asleep.  As I put you in your crib, you looked up at me, gave me a HUGE smile, and passed out.  That smile absolutely made my day.

You seem to be settling into some more predictable routines.  You usually go to sleep for the night between 8:30 and 9:30, you usually wake up around 4:00 or 5:00, and then we all snuggle back in bed while you snack and I try to catch some more zzzs.  We all wake up around 7:00, you play with Daddy while I get ready for work, and then we're off for another full day!

We got to visit with your Auntie Wendi once, and your Meemaw and Papaw twice.

You also went to your first girls' night out!
Hanging with Patti at girls' night!

I feel like the past month was filled with really visible markers of your growth.  You outgrew the bassinet attachment for your stroller, and now sit in the kid seat.  We moved your bed from our bedroom into your own room, and you also outgrew your bed!  We turned your bassinet into a full size crib this weekend.  We should have done this a while ago, as you are so long that any time you wiggled in your sleep, your head and feet touched the ends of your bed! This actually woke you up on Friday night, which is why we got right on it Saturday morning.

You now have a mobile above your crib.  It plays Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven while some crazy-colored animals spin above you.  You absolutely love it.  We also put a mobile of colorful sock monkeys above your changing table, and you love that even more!  You coo and goo and smile and play the whole time you're under your mobiles.

Kicking with excitement!

This month was also filled with big "firsts."  You had your first ear infection, your first sunburn, your first ride in a swing, your first professional photo shoot*, and your first roll over!  You're starting to notice us eating, which means real foods are right around the corner!  I bit into an apple the other day while you were sitting in my lap, and you jolted at the crunch and started for a minute, then smiled a gigantic smile.

This is you with a double ear infection- same as usual, but slightly pinker in the cheeks.

You love the swing!

*We went to the WalMart in Bryan to get pictures of you in your A&M outfit.  You weren't in the greatest mood, so it'll be interesting to see how they turn out! :-)

You have really discovered your hands- they are almost always in your mouth.

Time is going by so fast- I can't believe how quickly it's passing.  I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow and you'll be starting kindergarten, learning how to drive, and leaving for college.  I wish time would slow down a little bit!

This is my new favorite picture of you- I think it captures perfectly the happy, silly baby girl you have become. I can't wait to see what comes next!

I love you Julia!
