Waiting to see the doctor

Julia has yet another double ear infection (her third, and the second this month). She is really sick with this one, though-- high fever, lethargic, and just not herself. Poor baby!

Out-take

It's not all sunshine and roses over here- yesterday afternoon Julia let me know when she'd had enough of the scratchy grass and was ready to go back inside.

First food

videoJulia likes food, and spoons. Today was her first real taste- she had some organic multi-grain baby cereal mixed with mommy milk. It was a hit!

A new era

This morning, Julia discovered that she can take off her sock. I'm sure hat, sunglasses, and more will follow soon.

She also discovered that she can turn her mobile on and off by kicking the right spot.

I took this picture late yesterday afternoon- she was really conked out, but I love the position of her leg.

Watching soccer and missing Daddy

Daddy is in Dallas for a soccer tournament, but that didn't stop Julia from dressing up to watch our favorite team on tv this morning!

Romantic

Two chubby babies, very happy to see each other! Julia and Asher have known each other since they were negative six weeks old (we met in Lamaze class.)

Two teeth!

It only took two parents and four hands to get this terrible picture of a wiggly baby's two teeth

Jenny and Julia practicing their wrestling moves in their sleep.

Here you can see a good example of the 'sleeper hold'. An appropriate example for this night-time wrestling move.

Happy 5 month birthday!

Happy five month birthday, Julia!

The last month has absolutely flown by. I really don't know where the time has gone!
toys in each hand!

Two months ago, your Daddy said, "that new baby smell is gone." He's right- all traces of newborn Julia are gone, and you are pure baby now. You move differently, play differently, sleep differently, "talk" differently, and cry differently. It's amazing!

This month you started to laugh. We haven't seen any full belly laughs yet, but you are giggling more often and louder each week. Your chuckle is one of the happiest sounds I have ever heard! About two weeks ago, you started experimenting with consonants- before that, your "words" had all been vowels. You started off with v, which had your Daddy and I brainstorming words that started with v. In the last week, your vvvv has turned into blowing raspberries. They started out dry and tight-lipped, but now they're loud, wet, and downright hilarious.

You're really trying to sit up by yourself, and you're really close! Each day your balance improves and you get closer. You've also started rolling over in your sleep. The last two nights you have been almost flat on your belly when I have come in to get you. If you're not rolling over, you are scooting all over your crib.

It is amazing to watch you use your hands. You can now clutch toys, pick them up, turn them over, and put them in your mouth. Everything ends up in your mouth- almost anything you pick up goes straight to there. You have also discovered your feet. If you're laying down, your feet are up in the air, and your hands are grabbing your toes. You can sometimes get them into your mouth.

fascinating toes
Your mouth now has two teeth! The first showed up at the beginning of this month, and the second poked through this past weekend. Your teeth are SHARP! You've bitten and chewed on us, and it hurts! It's a good thing your teeth are so cute!

I think we're going to have to start real food soon- you're getting really grabby and really interested in food, utensils, and glasses. Time to put your high chair together and mash up some bananas! Or avocados? This is a big decision!

Meemaw and Pawpaw came to visit for Daddy's birthday the last weekend of March. Every time they see you, they remark on how bright eyed you are, and how well you hold up your head.

Your Nana also came for a visit. She kept telling me that four months was such wonderful age, and she almost missed it! She got to see your school and meet your teachers, and she also got to meet your doctor (you have another double ear infection right now-still a happy baby, though!)

You are so silly, so cute, and so deightful these days.

Your Daddy and I love you!
