Hiatus

Julia scooched her way under the rocking chair yesterday. She's getting better and better at going backward, which is not where she wants to go!

Things are kind of crazy here, professionally and otherwise. Posting will probably be light for the rest of the week.

Quarantined

Courtney and Julia have both been sick this weekend, so we're laying low. This was taken a couple weeks ago at dinner.

Just like her Mama

Julia insisted on feeding herself tonight, and she ended up with avocado in her eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Apparently this was my favorite thing to do with avocado when I was her age! I'll need to get the picture of me doing the same thing from my Mom....

Father's Day

We all went to the soccer fields to watch Daddy play soccer at noon today. It was HOT! thank goodness we had a big shade tent!

Turning over her hand

Julia figured out last night how to turn her hand over!

She started wiggle dancing a little bit on Wednesday.  She also started waving yesterday, and it's the sweetest thing.  Video as soon as I can catch either no film....

Lunch with the Lubitzes

We had Jill, Dave, and Asher over for lunch today, and the Dads and Babes had a great time playing on the floor. These two kiddies are really close to crawling- any day now!

Sleepy morning

Well, Daddy was sleepy. The girls were wide awake!

Yay bath!

We had a great afternoon. I picked Julia up from school early and took her to my office, where she got lots of attention. She took a nap on the way home, and had some applesauce before skyping with El Guapo (my Dad).

One big development this week- Julia has cut her 4:00 am snack, so now she's usually sleeping from 7:30 or 8:00 until sometime between 6:00 and 7:00.

Grabbing water

Bath time is fun!

A note to Meemaw and Nana

I frequently put Julia in one of the beautiful outfits you've given her, then take her to school and think I'll get a picture once we get home at the end if the day. Without fail, I pick her up and learn that she has pooped her way into a different outfit.

Please know that these gorgeous clothes are getting worn, even if you don't see them on the blog!

(Wendi, this applies to you, too!!)

Wide awake!

Julia was just waking up from a great nap when I picked her up from school a few minutes ago. She's in a great mood!

Professional pictures

We had some professional pictures taken on April 2, back when Julia was 4 (almost 5) months old.  I love the way these turned out.  The photographer was Christy Ivie, and she was fantastic.  She clearly enjoys what she does, and took some truly wonderful pictures.

Here are some of my favorites!

Seven months old!!!

Julia turned seven months old on Sunday. We were at a wedding in Fredericksburg all weekend, cleaned the house on Monday, recovered on Tuesday, and went grocery shopping on Wednesday, so this is a bit late. Sorry!

Happy seven month birthday! I can't believe it! When I was home with Julia on maternity leave, I remember running into moms with seven month old babies and thinking, "that is SO FAR AWAY, I can't even deal with thinking that far ahead." Well, it's HERE!

We had another busy month. We went swimming for the first time, attended your first international soccer game, stayed in two hotels, went to your first wedding, and had two more ear infections!

May included our first Mother's Day!  We spent a lovely day hanging out, shopping, and just being together as a family.  I loved every second of it!  Now the pressure is on to have an equally great first Father's Day!

Mother's Day

As expected, you love swimming. The swimming pool is like a big, huge bath tub, which you adore, so I'm not surprised that you love it so much! Asher is a fun swimming buddy, too, in part because his Mom always brings along great water toys. You and daddy and I are signed up for two weeks of swimming lessons starting on June 20th.

We had a fun visit from your Aunt Wendi and Uncle Brandon. We didn't get many pictures of them, but we got lots of you in the cute outfits Wendi brought!!

This is Wendi's favorite picture of you- expect her to show it to your prom date.

Over Memorial Day, we went to Houston to watch daddy referee El Salvador against Honduras. Meemaw, Pawpaw, and Uncle Cameron were there, too. The stadium was a sold out crowd of rowdy fans and we spent four+ hours in the hot hot sun, but you were quite the trooper. You just looked around and took it all in!

About to leave for the stadium
This past weekend we went to a wedding in Fredericksburg, and Meemaw and Pawpaw came to this, too. It was another hot weekend, with an outdoor ceremony at 4:00 in the afternoon, but you were the life of the party. You spent lots of time cruising the reception with various friends and family.

A blurry picture of the three of us- hopefully the wedding photographer got a good one of us together!

You are such a big girl these days. You had two top teeth almost pushing their way through- one cut through on Sunday, the other one is almost through today. You are right on the cusp of crawling. You no longer sit contentedly in one spot- you look around, see something you want, and do everything you can to get it! You reach, lunge, twist, turn, and flop over. It's fascinating to watch.

You also get really mad when you don't get what you want. Daddy and I are both trying to remember to not help you too quickly, because you need a chance to try to figure it out on your own.

You're eating a bigger variety of foods now. In addition to cereal, you've had apples, avocados, bananas, pears, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, peaches, and green beans. This weekend I hope to cook up some chicken, lentils, and zucchini.

You are really interested in the dogs, but you are completely obsessed with Scooter the cat.  I'm not sure if it's that his fur is softer, or if he sits still longer, or is more your size, but you LOVE HIM.  You can't keep your hands off the poor kitty, and you shriek with delight any time you see him.  It'll really be interesting when you can crawl and chase him around the house.

You started off the month blowing raspberries almost nonstop.  That seems to have slowed down, at least for now.  You're babbling more, experimenting with different sounds.  You also figured out how to take things off your face and head, like hats, sunglasses, and other stuff.  This makes peek-a-boo even more fun than it was before.  (This means you've also figured out how to take things off my face, like my glasses.  I'm wearing contacts a lot more than I have been as a result.)  You're really interested in jewelry, especially necklaces, bracelets, and watches.

I had several thoughts this month about where you are in life.  You've already spent more than half your life in day care.  That's mildly depressing, but it is what it is, and you seem so happy at school.  That makes working a lot easier.  Also, we're a little over halfway to weaning off nursing.  I'm so glad we've been able to do that together, and it'll be bittersweet when it ends.  Your eyes have changed from that steely grey-blue to hazel, just like mine.  They are absolutely beautiful, and fringed in the most amazingly long eyelashes.

Every day we see more and more of your personality. You are an astounding little person!  I love you and your Daddy more than I ever could have imagined possible.

Hugs and kisses,
Mommy

Still at the farmer's market

At the farmer's market

There's a great farmer's market near our house on Wednesday nights.
