Mmmmm dinner

Julia fed herself whole wheat pasta with homemade pesto tonight. I was surprized that she loved the pesto so much- I have a heavy hand with the garlic. She had cherries for dessert!

Checking out the camera!

Ahoy there, matey

Toward the end of the video you can see the adorable peg-leg pirate move Julia has adopted in the last day or two. When she crawls, she sticks one leg out straight to the side and crawls by moving the straight leg around instead of bending her knee and moving her leg back and forth underneath her. It's hilarious.

Daddy was working really hard to get Julia to finish her dinner, but she was not that interested.

Happy Eight Month Birthday!

Dearest Julia,

You turned eight months old on July 5th! (again a couple days late- sorry!)!

The last month has been really busy. Work has been really hectic for me. You've been busy at school- you're the oldest girl in your class, so you have to show all those babies how its' done! You've been busy learning how to wave, and how to dance, and just generally how to be super cute. You're a natural.

We took a week's worth of swimming lessons through the City- they were great, but nothing you couldn't handle. In fact, we'd already mastered all the techniques in our swim time with your buddy Asher.

One of the babies in your swim class had a bad rash, and sure enough, you came down with the same rash three days later. The rash also came with a bad fever- you were sick for five days. It still scares me to death when you're sick.

As for developments, you sprouted two more teeth while you were sick! You now have SIX teeth. You're a little pirhana! We've been brushing your teeth to help build good habits now.

You also started waving hello and bye-bye, and I love it. I want to cry every time I see you wave- not sure why- it's just so sweet. You're experimenting more with sounds, and you almost say Ma Ma. I'm pretty sure you said "No!" to me on Monday, but I'm pretending that didn't happen. :-)

You're eating much chunkier foods now, including some finger foods. Your diapers are changing accordingly. Dinner time is getting messier and messier, but that's ok.

You got your first haircut, and you are really sleeping through the night (except when you're sick).

You are so close to crawling. You can get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth, and you can scoot around the floor on your bottom. You're just starting to move your hands and legs like you're about to take off across the room. I think you'll be crawling in a matter of days, not weeks. It's very exciting.

You are such a big girl, with such a big personality. Your Nana came in for a quick visit over the 4th of July, and she was so surprised at how much you have changed since May.

Every day we learn something new about you. It's an exciting time to be in this family, that's for sure!

I love you with every fiber of my being, Julia. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.
