Goodbye Chesterfield!

We moved to a new house over the weekend. Chesterfield was a great house for us, and will always be the house we came home to with Julia!

Two and a Half

Dear Julia,

You turned two and a half this week.  I know I say it every time I do one of these recaps, but I can't believe what a big girl you are, or how fast you have grown!

You are fully potty trained now.  It took about three weeks total.  You were so ready, and the timing seemed just right.  You love your big girl undies, especially your Tinkerbell pair.

You are a champ on road trips.  We drove 12 hours each way to see Nana back in March, and 9 hours each way to Matt's wedding in April.  You rarely complain (as long as the DVD player works), have had no potty accidents, and are so much fun as a traveling companion.

Your vocabulary and enunciation have really blossomed in the last 6 months.  You're speaking in complete sentences, you understand almost everything you hear, and strangers understand most of what you say.  When people ask you how you are, you say, "I JuliaJackson" or "I two" (with 2 fingers held up proudly.)  Your enthusiasm is contagious.  You love yelling "YAY" and "Yahoo!" when you like something.  You also let us know quite clearly when you don't like something. You use "please" and "thank you" all the time, which makes me so proud.

You love to dance, and have just entered a major twirly girl phase.  You love pink, and dresses, and ballet.  You're obsessed with Tinkerbell and you love your Babydoll Stella. You can sing the alphabet almost perfectly, though L M N O and P frequently blend in to a single unintelligible blur.  You recognize almost all of your letters, especially J for "JuliaJackson."  You can count to 20 with no problems, and know most of your numbers in Spanish, too.  When you color, you've started drawing discrete things instead of broad swaths of color.  You also sign your name in a completely different style.  Recently most of your drawings have been of a "big soccer game" with at least 3 teams of different colors.

Bedtime isn't very smooth, but we've seen worse.  You are a master of delay- multiple requests for food, drink, potty, and all kinds of other things.  We frequently hear you whine, "I HUNgry" in a very pathetic voice not 10 minutes after you ate a big snack before brushing your teeth. Your favorite lullaby right now is a song about your day- we loosely use the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle" and sing all about waking up, what we had for breakfast, details of your day at school if you felt like sharing, and what we did once we got home.  You also like to sing "Rockabye Baby" with me.  I love listening to you sing.

The other night there were a bunch of fireflies out in the yard, and you loved watching them.  When we tried to get you inside for bed, you kept asking to see just one more.

I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but you had lead poisoning when you were around 15 months old.  Your lead levels are FINALLY back in the normal range, which is such a relief.  Your doctors think you're perfect and have suffered no ill effects other than worried parents.

We've got some big changes coming up!  We're moving to a new house this weekend.  You've also got a sibling arriving in October.  When we talk about the baby in Mommy's belly, you usually add that you have two in your tummy, and that Daddy has one in his.  You definitely want a sister.

As always, JuliaJackson, your Mommy loves you with all her heart.  You are my sunshine!
