Wednesday morning dance party

Lucy just wants to do what Julia does. Like riding in the cart.

And having a yogurt beard. (Actually, this was Julia copying Lucy).

And reading in the bath.

And eating sliced apples out of pink bowls while lounging in front of Wonder Pets.

Julia is 4!

Dear Julia,

Today you turn four years old. I can't believe it!  It feels like just yesterday that you were swimming around in my belly, but here you are--a beautiful, strong, brilliant, funny girl.

Last night we were getting ready for bed. I had finished combing your hair, watching you make faces in the mirror. You are so beautiful, Julia, it almost takes my breath away.

Your body is so strong and capable. You've mastered the art of the monkey bars, swinging back and forth like there's nothing to it. You love to show us how fast you can run, how high you can jump, and how far you can ride your tricycle. I must say, we're impressed!!

You've recently started experimenting with telling jokes. A typical exchange goes something like this:

Julia:  want to hear something craaaazy?

Daddy:  sure.

Julia:  green carrots! Hahahahahaha!
Want to hear something even craaaaazier?

Daddy:  yes!

Julia:  blue carrots!!!  Hahahahahahahahahahaha Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!

It's so fun to watch you play with this new form of expression, and I'm looking forward to watching you refine your sense of humor.

You are still a voracious reader- you love listening to longer picture books, and you occasionally sound out words in simpler books. I think you're going to loooove reading yourself when you figure it out.

In addition to jokes and reading, you work hard to find the right word. You're a great communicator these days, which I love.

A few of your favorite things:

Restaurant:  Chipotle (cheese quesadilla, double brown rice, lemonade)

Book: The Hungry Ghost

Movie:  My Little Pony

Dinner at home: spaghetti and meatballs

Toy: hard to say, but probably your baby doll.

Julia, it is a delight watching you grow up. I love you more than you can possibly know!
